Though Cristina Yang and Owen Hunt have yet to have a permanent breakup on Grey's Anatomy, his new love interest is going to be around for multiple episodes and might finally put an end to the on-again, off-again relationship the doctors have.

Cristina (Sandra Oh) and Owen (Kevin McKidd) have always been in love despite their different hopes for the future, notably him wanting children. In episode 4, Puttin' on the Ritz, things changed with the introduction of a new character and fans see Owen and Cristina starting to drift apart.

Owen showed signs of doing what Cristina asked him to: moving on.

At the fundraising gala held in the hospital he flirted with a doctor named Emma, played by Shameless' Marguerite Moreau, who came to steal donations from Grey-Sloan Memorial but stayed around because she enjoyed talking to Owen. The episode ended with Cristina asking Owen to go to the bar with her, but then Emma walks in and he instead goes to spend time with the latter.

Emma will make an appearance in several episodes, according to Wetpaint.

Oh revealed in August that she is leaving the show after the 10th season ends. McKidd said regardless of her exit from the medical drama, he feels Cristina will "come back in a few years."

"I feel like she'll come back in a few years," he said, referencing his co-stars impending departure. "She'll go away and Owen will do his thing. He'll think he's happy, but suddenly she'll walk through the doors one day, and he'll go, 'Oh s-t,' and I'm going to have to divorce my wife that I married now, and it will explode my whole life because you're the one!"

Grey's Anatomy airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
