Lorde maintained that she thought Selena Gomez was anti-feminist in a recent discussion with MTV following similar comments she made in a previous interview.

The Royals singer told Rolling Stone in September that the portrayal of women in Gomez's song, Come and Get It, was disagreeable by her.

"I love pop music on a sonic level," she said. "But I'm a feminist and the theme of her song [Come & Get It] is, 'When you're ready come and get it from me.' I'm sick of women being portrayed this way."

Lorde then told MTV she didn't feel the need to clarify anything and stuck by what she had said.

"I think there's a funny culture in music that's only happened over the last 15 years, and that is haters," she explained. "That if you have an opinion about something in music which isn't 100-percent good, you're a hater, even if you have perfectly reasonable grounds for that critique."

While the 16-year-old singer stood by her previous comments about Gomez, she added that she appreciated Gomez's "cool" cover of her song.

Gomez also responded to Lorde's scathing remarks in a recent interview with the radio station Hot 99.5.

"There's 2 different kinds of criticism. There's the people that hide behind a computer and want to say endless amount of things but never say it to your face, and then obviously there are the vocal ones," Gomez said. "I appreciate everybody's opinion, especially because I've covered her music lots of times."

She went on say that while she felt it was unfair, she did not take Lorde's criticisms too seriously.

"I think she is super talented and I think it's awesome. But I think at the same time that feminism and that specific thing is very sensitive because in my opinion it's not feminism if you're tearing down another artist. So that's the only thing that I feel but you know, she's young, she's got so much talent, she's gonna take over, she gets it, so I don't take it to heart," she added.

It was reported that Gomez, who used to do a cover of Royals on her tour, has now replaced that with Katy Perry's Roar.

Lorde also said that Taylor Swift was so "flawless and unattainable" that she was not "breeding anything good in young girls." In another interview earlier this year she was also critical of Justin Bieber, saying that he did not provide "a real depiction of what it's like to be a young person."
