Jimmy Fallon said he does not plan on changing his style of hosting when he takes over Jay Leno's job as head of The Tonight Show in February.

He told the Orlando Sentinel in a recent interview that he would keep the new gig the same as the Late Night show, which he currently hosts.

"I'm not going to change anything," Fallon said. "It's more eyeballs watching but it's the same show."

Fallon also revealed how and when he was informed that he would be officially taking the reigns from Leno. The 39-year-old TV show host said he received a call from the current Tonight Show host who said he thought it was time for his to step down. Leno told him, "I think I'm ready."

"As soon as I got Late Night, I called Jay and said, 'I want to let you know I want to start on the right foot. I respect you.' I've been a guest on the show numerous times," Fallon explained. "I said, 'I'm not gunning for your job. I'm not trying to plot anything. Whenever you're ready to step down, let me know. But I'm happy at 12:30.' "

Leno spoke about his plans after leaving the Tonight Show when he was a guest on Craig Ferguson's late night show in September. He said he might go back to touring as a stand-up comic.

"I'll go back on the road. I like the road 'cause when you're a comic, you know when it's working. On TV, you don't know if it's working," Leno said.

Ferguson comically insisted that Leno must "plot a revenge" and get a hold of "those guys at NBC" after he made his exit. Leno then revealed that he has worked with 14 different presidents at NBC. He also picked his favorite: Warren Littlefield.
