Apple is holding its October keynote event at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT, where the company will likely announce updates to the iPad, the Macbook Pro and other products.

Apple will be holding the conference at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, Calif. at 10 a.m. on the west coast. The corporation should be unveiling the fifth-generation iPad as well as the iPad Mini 2. They should also be unveiling the final touches to the new OS X Mavericks operating system.

The iPad 5 and the iPad Mini 2 are rumored to have an A7 chip with slimmer designs than their predecessors in addition to a motion co-processor. The iPad Mini 2 is expected to be released in a gold color after the success of the gold iPhone 5s. The Mini tablet will also be available in Space Gray and feature the Touch ID fingerprint scanner found in the iPhone 5s.

Apple users should also expect the company to unveil a new line of Macbook Pro laptops. The new laptops should include Intel's Haswell processor, which lengthens battery life and improves speed. There are rumors that the new Macbook Pro will include Sharp's IGZO display panel and support 4k display with a resolution of 3840X2160.

As for the highly anticipated new operating system OS X Mavericks, the software will have a Maps app, an improved Safari, iBooks and other new features. The new software should become available to the public by the end of the month.
