Billy Bob Thornton revealed that his ex-wife Angelina Jolie wasn't particularly excited about him filming a certain sex scene.

"She is one of the most beautiful women in the world and I am talking on the phone to my wife, (Angelina) and she says: 'What have you been doing today?" he recently told U.K.'s The Sun. "And I say: 'Oh, I did that sex scene with Halle Berry.' You are then asked if you actually touched her. I say: 'I had to - it's in the scene'... If you are a thousand miles from home on a film set simulating sex with a beautiful woman, it's even tougher."

The scene he's referring to appears in the 2001 drama Monster's Ball, in which he plays Hank Grotowski. Berry also received the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in the film.

Yet, the sex scene wasn't the reason behind Thornton's failed marriage to Jolie, which lasted from 2000 to 2003.

"I blew my marriage to Angelina," he said. "I thought I was not good enough for her and I was too insecure. We are still friends."

In fact their friendship is so strong that Thornton knew about Jolie's double mastectomy before she announced it to the world.

"I knew about it before the public knew," the actor told Life & Style in June. "She wanted me to know so I wouldn't freak out. When you're great friends with somebody like that...you don't want to hear it on the news."

The actress announced her decision in May through an op-ed in The New York Times titled "My Medical Choice." She decided on the procedure three months prior to the article, after discovering that she had an 87 percent chance of developing breast cancer.

Thornton had nothing but kind words to say about his ex-wife, also telling the publication, "She makes you a better person." He also deemed Jolie a great wife and believes she will be just as perfect for her fiancé Brad Pitt.

"She's an amazing person and makes you the best you that you can be," he added.
