ABC has cancelled its controversial "GCB" freshmen series, along with "The River" ,"Missing" and "Pan Am". It was hoped that the show would replace prime time viewing in place of "Desperate Housewives" after the series ends tonight. But due to less than average viewings and low ratings, the network decided to scrap the show.

The original title of GCB was "Good Christian Bitches" but changed to "Good Christian Belles", before the name finally settled on GCB. The series was based on a novel by Kim Gatlin called "Good Christian Bitches."
The cancellation of this show has come as a disappointment to many, including cast member Jennifer Aspen. She tweeted on Friday: "I'm so sorry to tell you all that #GCB has been cancelled by ABC. #Heartbroken."
Leslie Bibb, who plays Amanda, tweeted: "To all u #GCB fans & Amanda lovers, thx 4 the <3..Appreciate it & just wait, we'll get 2 go on a new fun ride somewhere else! #lifeisperfect".
Fans of the show commented on tvline.com:
"I Agee GCB is one of the cleverest, funniest shows I'vee seen in years. I can't believe abc let it go. Hopefully another network will pick it up," said commenter Cheryl Hickey.
Another commenter wrote: "I said the same thing from episode 1 of GCB, that it had the potential to be the next Desperate Housewives.....but of course ABC dosn't care about the people who watch their shows."
