The Nov. 4 episode of Dancing with the Stars will pay homage to Cher and her music career, which has spanned over 40 years.

The 67-year-old Cher is humbled and taken back that the show will pay tribute to her.

"It's always strange when people do something like this," she told PEOPLE. "You're not thinking about those kinds of things. It just always takes me by surprise. It just does."

On the show Cher will perform her new song, Closer To The Truth, and her smash-hit Believe. Unfortunately, the singer-actress is currently waiting to have surgery on her injured foot and will not be able to dance on the show.

"Aren't I old enough not to be a contestant anymore? Haven't I got past the contestant part," she joked.

Besides being honored and performing, Cher will also serve as a guest judge on Dancing with the Stars. Her son Chaz Bono, who was once a contestant on the show, will be in attendance to see his mother live on the ABC dancing competition.

"I am excited for it and he is too, but like me, he is low-key and won't get excited for it until that day," she explained. "We are all low-key."

Cher is regarded as one of the best-selling music artists of all time. She is the only artist to have a No. 1 single on a Billboard chart in each of the past six decades.

Cher has sold a staggering 100 million solo albums and over 40 million records as Sonny & Cher worldwide.

Dancing with the Stars airs Monday, Nov. 4, at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
