Miley Cyrus paid homage to one of hip-hop's most memorable fashion moments this Halloween and the woman who put the look together, Misa Hylton-Brim, approved.

"I'm always flattered when I see interpretations of my work," Hyton-brim told EnStars on Thursday. "I think Miley nailed the look. Lil Kim's 1999 MTV music awards outfit still makes noise." 

The We Cant Stop singer replicated the look worn by Brooklyn rapper Lil' Kim when she attended the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards. Cyrus shared the outfit on Twitter early Thursday with the caption, "Happy Halloween @LilKim."

The Money, Power & Respect rapper responded with her approval of the Wrecking Ball singer's costume choice.

"Awwww. Look at my baby @mileycyrus tonight!!! Looking GORGEOUS!!!" Lil Kim tweeted. "I wish I was there to squeeze your boob :) :) Love U so much !!!! #mytwin."

Lil' Kim left many in awe when she arrived on the red carpet for the award show held at New York City's Lincoln Center in 1999. During red carpet interviews, the rapper told MTV House of Style host Rebecca Romijn that when her stylist Hylton-Brim first presented the risque outfit to her she simply responded, "Yeah I'll wear that."

"She's actually here today, she's standing over there, she has a cowboy hat," she told Romijin of Hylton-Brim. "I have a hair stylist who gets these beautiful wigs made sometimes, she gets them imported from overseas and my shoes are by Steve Madden."

Hylton-Brim explained that her inspiration for the shocking design came from her friend, rapper Missy Elliott.

"One weekend we were hanging out discussing music and fashion. Missy said if I was Kim I would say "F" it and have one breast out!," she also told EnStars. "That sparked my creative fire. Our next event [at the time] was the MTV Music Awards."

She added that from those words she designed the look and chose a beautiful lace Indian fabric to execute the idea. She also credited the hairstylist for complementing the outfit with a matching bob wig.

Elliott also shared her approval of Cyrus' outfit on Twitter. She wrote to Hylton-Brim on the social media site, "@MisaHylton Oh wow she nailed it:) Cauuute!"

When asked if she had any idea what costume the Queen Bee herself might wear this year for Halloween, Hylton-Brim said she had "no idea."
