Pitbull has been tapped to host the 2013 American Music Awards. The Miami rapper will also perform at the event, which will be held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, Calif. on Nov. 24.

"I am truly honored to be hosting the 2013 American Music Awards," Pitbull said in a press statement. "The night is only about one thing fun! So buckle and get ready. Dále!"

Show producer Larry Klein said in a statement that Pitbull was chosen to host this year because he is a "multi-talented global superstar."

"[He is] the right man to take the reins of the night, which is going to be one great party," Klein said in a press release. "That's why he is called Mr. Worldwide. He's the perfect choice to celebrate the universal language of music."

Pitbull will perform his latest single Timber with Ke$ha, who appears on the song.

A Latin host is very fitting for this year's ceremony since the event will honor Gloria Estefan, who appeared on the show for the first time 25 years ago. It is also the 15th year the event will have a Favorite Latin Artist category.

Other celebrities scheduled to perform include: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Kendrick Lamar, One Direction, Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead the list of nominees with 6 nods. View the complete list of nominees here.

The 2013 American Music Award will broadcast live on ABC beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Nov. 24.
