Sarah Jessica Parker fans can finally rejoice as their favorite star has officially joined Twitter under the handler @SJP, posting her first tweet on Tuesday night.

"Very 1st tweet. Proud to share my new series city ballet. On AOL On. @NYCballet dancers= extraordinary!" she tweeted.

According to the Daily Mail, the 48-year-old Sex and the City actress had resisted the urge to join the social networking site for years, but finally caved in order to promote the AOL series she executively produces about the New York City Ballet..

Parker is a staunch supporter of the ballet and even promoted it during one of her guest-starring appearances on FOX's Glee, where her character hosted a benefit for the program.

Despite only being on the social media site for 24 hours, the actress has already garnered nearly 450,000 followers. She has also since tweeted two more times, both on Wednesday afternoon.

"I'm still on twitter! Though I dreamt I was kindly asked to remove myself :x " she wrote, followed immediately after by "Does anyone know if Dexter Filkins is on twitter?"

Though it is unconfirmed, the Dexter Filkins Parker she may be seeking is the New York Times journalist known for his coverage of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

As of press time, Parker was only following Andy Cohen of Watch What Happens Live.

She is the last of the Sex and the City cast members to join the site, though she does have the most followers so far. Chris Noth (Mr. Big, who now stars on The Good Wife) has 19,000 followers, while Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall, who played Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha on the hit televisions series, each have approximately 1,100, 159,000, and 62,000 followers respectively.
