Bill de Blasio put his family front and center during his campaign to become the first Democratic Mayor in New York City in two decades.

Here's a few facts to know about the 6-foot-5 mayor's wife, Chirlane McCray, as well as his children Dante and Chiara.

- Who are his children?

Dante is a 16-year-old junior at Brooklyn Tech, one of the city's prestigious public high schools. Chiara, 18, is a sophomore at a private college in California.

Dante was featured in his father's ad campaign.

"Bill de Blasio will be a mayor for every New Yorker, no matter where they live or what they look like and I'd say that even if he weren't my dad," he said in one ad.

His daughter also spoke about her father's campaign and her desire to be a part of it.

"I like understanding what's going on better. In every way I think that I'm lucky to live the life that I live," Chiara told NY Mag in September. "I don't have a lot of the problems that other people have. It's very important for me to see what other people go through."

- Who is his wife?

Chirlane, a writer and poet, was once a lesbian and wrote about her sexuality in a 1979 essay published in Essence. The magazine deemed it "a revelation, perhaps the first time a black gay woman had spoken so openly and honestly about her sexuality in a black magazine."

Yet, all that changed when McCray met de Blasio in 1991. She praised her husband, who wasn't fazed by her past, during a recent interview with The Huffington Post.

"The chemistry between us was so good. He was easy to talk to. He was funny, irreverent, smart, all those things attracted me to him," she said. "And, he's tall and good looking."
