Two of American Horror Story: Coven's standout actresses may come back for another season of the popular horror series.

Kathy Bates, who currently plays the evil Madame LaLaurie on Coven, has been asked back for American Horror Story season 4, according to Entertainment Weekly. Angela Bassett, who plays the voodoo priestess Marie Laveau, has also been asked back for another installment.

Co-creator Ryan Murphy confirmed that he has asked both actresses to return, days after FX made the announcement that American Horror Story would be renewed for a fourth season.

"I have approached them and they wanna do it," Murphy confirmed. "That's very exciting when you can work with A.) actresses you've always idolized and B.) those two are loving this season. They love what they get to do."

Bates has reportedly loved being on the set of the show - so much so that she wanted to give her thanks to the writers.

"Kathy Bates sent the writers a basket of plush toys all in the shapes of disemboweled organs," Murphy revealed. "It doesn't get better than when an Oscar winner sends you a grab bag of stuffed pancreas to say 'Thank you and job well done.'"

Connie Britton Returning to American Horror Story?

From the sound of it, Bates should definitely be returning, considering her previous comments to The Huffington Post.

When asked if she would return for season 4, the actress replied, "Oh, absolutely. I would love to be part of his company. I think it's doing exciting work. I love the people. You bet, I'd like to stay on the team."

Jessica Lange, who has been one of the primary stars of the show for three seasons, will be leaving after season 4. Bates becoming a part of the regular cast of characters could serve as a natural replacement.
