Lady Gaga's new album ARTPOP is filled with upbeat tunes but many of them fail to leave an impression.

Her third studio album uses highly synthesized beats, some of which are easily skippable, including Fashion! and Donatella. The record often becomes draining and monotonous if you listen to it as a whole.

Another problem, is the album's lack of depth. Many of the song lyrics aren't as meaningful as those found in her past hits, like Born This Way. Most of her new tracks revolve around sex, while other lyrics are just peculiar.

For example, on Aura she asks, "Do you wanna see me naked, lover? Do you wanna peak underneath the cover?" and on Manicure she says, "Put your hands all over my body parts. Throw me on the bed. Squeeze, tease and please me, that's what I said."

On Swine, Gaga sings, "You're just a pig inside a human body. Squealer, squealer, sqeaul out, you're so disgusting."

However, the album does have some secret treasures. One of the songs that sticks out is Dope, a melancholy ballad in which Gaga puts emphasis on her exceptional vocal ability. And on Gypsy, her fans get the vulnerable and heartfelt version of Gaga, which is sadly missing from the majority of the record. Do What U Want, featuring R&B singer R. Kelly, also differentiates itself from the rest of the album, especially because of its catchy chorus and soulful nature.

While there was immense hype surrounding ARTPOP, her follow-up to 2011's Born This Way is a big letdown.
