Tia Mowry, one of the leading stars of BET's popular TV show "The Game", has announced that she will be leaving the show. The popular show has been on for five series, but the show's future and success is questionable after her departure.

Mowry played the role of "Melanie Barnett" since the show debuted on The CW in 2006. The show ran on The CW network until 2009 and later picked up by BET in 2011.

The actress tweeted Wednesday: "Just wanted to let all my fans know that I will not be returning to 'The Game' for season 6. It was an incredible run and I had lots of fun."

Following Mowry's departure, her on-screen husband "Derwin Davis" played by Pooch Hall also left the show. BET released a statement Thursday saying Hall will not be returning to the show because he is "involved in a new project."

BET said it is in the process of reworking the casting and the storyline, adding that they hope the former stars of the show will make several guests appearances.

Tia Mowry and her twin sister Tamera Mowry-Housley have their own reality show on the Style Network called "Tia & Tamera." Tia recently released her book, "Oh Baby!" and is set to star in the ABC Family holiday movie, "The Mistle-Tones."

The identical twin sisters first made their TV debut back in 1994 with their hit show "Sisters, Sisters".
