The identity of the actress playing the love interest to Ben Affleck's Batman in Man of Steel 2 may be officially revealed soon.

Gal Gadot, of the Fast & Furious franchise, is allegedly the frontrunner to play the "female role" in Man of Steel 2 a.k.a. Batman vs. Superman. Latino Post writer and trusted source El Mayimbe tweeted some scoop Wednesday revealing that Gadot is the frontrunner to play the mysterious female role.

It is still unknown if the female role will be for Batman's love interest or if it will be for Wonder Woman/Diana Prince.

Gadot, 28, is also well known in the pageant industry as the winner of Miss Israel in 2004. She went on to compete in Miss Universe the same year. Other than the Fast & Furious franchise, she has played roles in Date Night, Knight and Day and Entourage.

Making things even more complicated, ComicBookMovie recently posted about rumors that Warner Bros. wants to cast an African-American actress for the part of Batman's love interest. The love interest role is described as more than just a one night stand. The love interest will know Bruce Wayne so well that she is aware that his alter ego is Batman.

This would take Gadot out of the running, but that also could possibly confirm her identity as Wonder Woman. Either way, casting news should be announced soon as director Zack Snyder will be shooting much of the film starting in early 2014.

Batman & Superman Facing Off in 'Physical Conflicts' in Man of Steel 2? 

Man of Steel 2 is scheduled for release in theaters on July 17, 2015.
