Country couple Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton have recently come under fire for flaunting their drinking habits, while the Pistol Annies singer is acutely aware of where too much booze can land you.

A recent report form the National Enquirer revealed that Miranda's younger brother, Leslie "Luke" Adams Lambert, served 12 days in jail in 2010 for pleading no contest to a DUI.

With a blood alcohol level of .144, Miranda's brother also admitted to mixing his alcohol with the anti-anxiety drug Lexapro. In addition to the short time in custody, Luke reportedly lost his license for 90 days.

While neither Miranda nor her Voice coach husband seem to have any such blemishes on their reputation, one source believes that the singers could use their stardom to try and curtail such heavy drinking rather than encourage it.

"Luke's arrest is no joking matter and Miranda knows it," a source told the publication. "That's why she's kept it under wraps. People would be outraged. Her brother could have killed himself - or someone else. Miranda could have done a lot of good by talking about it because there are kids who hang on her every word. Instead, she's kept it secret."

Despite the couples' frequent joking about their drinking habits on twitter - such as Shelton's recent missive regarding drinking his face off while traveling and Miranda's call for drinks on her birthday - the pair rarely preach safe consumption to their nearly 8 million followers.
