Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton and Prince Harry's girlfriend Cressida Bonas have been bonding while the 24-year-old's boyfriend is away at the South Pole.

The two were allegedly feuding at first because Prince William had eyes for Bonas' sister, Isabella Branson. But now that Bonas and Prince Harry are getting pretty serious, The Duchess is making more of an effort to take her under her wing. She's even giving her advice on how to handle being a royal girlfriend and avoid mistakes she made before tying the knot with Prince William.

One source revealed, "I think [Kate] regrets not finding a job to settle down to before getting engaged to William - the 'Waity Katie' tag still haunts her today. So [she] can talk to Cressy about that and also point out the attention she'd get if she carried on with the dancing." The insider continued and said, "Every time she put on a leotard to perform, the pictures would be splashed all over the world - and not for the right reasons."

Bonas is rumored to have given up her dream career as a dancer to improve her image as one who is potentially going to be a part of the royal family one day.

The source added, "It's an exciting time and although it's sad that being a dancer has to be sacrificed, there will be so much she can still do...Cressida is happy to have Kate on her side, especially now Harry's almost un-contactable."

However not everyone is happy about the budding friendship between Middleton and Bonas. Apparently the palace's senior officials worry that "everything is changing so fast" as the two women become more influential.

"Many of the more senior officials at the palace don't like the modernisation of the royals, and with Kate and Cressida becoming more influential, there's obviously a worry that even more changes are afoot."

Prince Harry's voyage in Antarctica ends on December 16, there's hope he'll be home just in time to spend Christmas with Bonas and his royal family.
