A prominent director on Game of Thrones recently revealed big details about one of the final episodes of season 4.

Neil Marshall, who directed the season 2 episode Blackwater, is returning to direct another huge battle-themed episode for season 4. Marshall is directing the ninth episode of season 4, in which three different battles will take place.

"It's kind of the same as Blackwater, in a sense, in that these episodes are bigger than most of my films!" Marshall told IFTN recently. "We had about 200 hundred or so extras. We also had a very large team of stuntmen including this amazing bunch of Hungarian stunt guys, and they were absolutely fantastic! Really great. This episode is loaded with stunts, effects gags and visual effects. It's a very, very action-packed episode!"

Marshall also revealed that there would be a few beheadings, which has become relatively commonplace in Game of Thrones. He added that there will be a lot of sword fighting as well as physical fights.

Game of Thrones Spoilers: George R. R. Martin Talks Books & Series Ending

The episode will feature a battle at Castle Black. This means that if the Game of Thrones writers faithfully adapt George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire books then this battle will feature the Night's Watch vs. Mance Rayder (Cirian Hinds) and his wildlings.

MAJOR BOOK SPOILERS AHEAD:

This is a particularly bloody battle on both sides, but Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane) sails in with his troops and utterly decimates the wildlings. Stannis and Melisandre (Carice van Hourton) then keep Mance as a prisoner until they decide what to do with him.
