A new villain featured in Captain America: The Winter Soldier may have a part in future Marvel projects if his character is well received in the upcoming superhero movie, one of the film's cast members said.

Crossbones, who will be portrayed by Frank Grillo in the newest Captain America film, could become a threat in several other Marvel pictures slated for release. In a recent interview with Crave Online, Grillo hinted that several characters featured in Winter Soldier will appear again in later films from the company.

"It's an origin film," he said. "You meet people who are going to be around for a while, so they introduce the characters. It's almost like a series. It's fun."

Though previews for the movie only show his character's alter-ego of Brock Rumlow, which doesn't guarantee that Crossbones will make an actual appearance in this film, he did say that there is a chance for the character in the future.

"We'll see what happens. We'll see if the fans respond to Brock and how it goes," he said.

Other new characters appearing in Winter Soldier who may be potentially be featured in later installments include Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier and Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/The Falcon.

Though Grillo could not give outright details about his character's involvement in any Marvel films, he playfully tweeted a threat to Captain America on Thanksgiving suggesting Crossbones' appearance in Winter Soldier.

"Happy Thanksgiving to all you beautiful people. Oh and to Capt. America. Enjoy the last Thanksgiving with all your teeth," he wrote on Nov. 27.

Whether his character is given the chance to appear in upcoming films or not though, Grillo appreciates the opportunity he has been given so far.

"For any actor, it's huge and you really get an understanding of that when you see guys like [Robert] Redford show up to do a role. What's happening now is I think since all the Marvel movies had such a wide range of viewers globally that you'd be crazy not to want to be involved on some level with the Marvel people," he said.

"They do it like nobody else," he added. "For me it's a great opportunity because it's an international film. It just raises your exposure that much more."
