While responding to a fan query on Twitter, director Colin Trevorrow said the fourth installment of Jurassic Park will be a sequel and not a reboot,

Trevorrow suggested that the film, which is now titled Jurassic World, is set 22 years in the future. These details came to light when a fan asked the filmmaker to confirm rumors about the film being a reboot.

"Mr. Trevorrow, everytime I read something, it says JW is a reboot. Please tell us that its not a reboot?! I'm going bonkers!" -- Karn Bains

The director's response seemed to hint at the fact that the film would be a sequel after he described it as a "sci-fi terror:"

"Reboot is a strong word. This is a new sci-fi terror adventure set 22 years after the horrific events of Jurassic Park."
