America's voting eliminated one hopeful from The Voice on Tuesday night.

The Top 6 was narrowed down to the Top 5 when Matthew Shuler of Team Christina Aguilera was sent packing following his Monday night performances.

While season 5 contestants have the added help of iTunes sales bonuses, which multiplies an artist's vote by five when their single for that week enters the iTunes Top 10, and Instant Save, which allows voters to save one of the bottom three by tweeting their support, Schuler recieved neither of these advantages.

Although Schuler made it to the Top 6 with the help of the Instant Save, America took to Twitter to help a different contestant this week. In five minutes of furious tweeting, voters rallied around James Wolpert of Team Adam Levine. Interestingly, both the performers placed in the Bottom Two previously received the iTunes bonus in earlier weeks. Since no one received the prestigious bonus this week, the only other contestant to top the charts was Will Champlin with his rendition of Etta James' At Last.

While Team Cee Lo Green is now completely out of the running, Team Blake Shelton and Team Christina are barely holding on with only one competitor each. Coach Adam appears to have made a good selection early in the season and the Maroon 5 frontman still has three of his students in the running.

For his final performances on Monday, Shuler gave his renditions of Percy Sledge's When A Man Loves a Woman and One Direction's Story of My Life (see video below).

The Voice airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET and Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC
