The fifth installment of Terminator may see an addition to its cast, after Jean-Claude Van Damme said he would love to star alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 2015 film.

The whole idea of Van Damme joining the cast of the film was spurred by an online petition started by fans asking Paramount to sign on the action star for the next film. Van Damme found out about the petition and emphatically responded to it on Facebook by saying he was definitely on board if the filmmakers were to approach him for a role in the movie.

"I would definitely love to join the Terminator franchise with Mr. Arnold Schwarzenegger, if I am offered the role. I would love to! Let's see if the studio is interested. Thank you," he wrote.

Van Damme most recently worked in The Expendables with Schwarzenegger. Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, and Jason Statham also starred in the film. The 53-year-old actor has two other films lined up for release next year: Welcome to the Jungle and Full Love.

Schwarzenegger is rumored to play the role of a heroic human being tasked with protecting the Connor family in the fifth installment of Terminator, Enstars previously reported.

The actor had played a human being in the past installments of the franchise but this time around it seems like he will be coming back to earth and playing a mortal, albeit an exceptionally strong one. The film's writers, Patrick Lussier (Drive) and Laeta Kalogridis (Avatar), disclosed their idea for Schwarzenegger's character in an interview with The Examiner.

Terminator 5 will be released in July 2015.
