In Saturday Night Live promos for its Dec. 7 episode, host Paul Rudd went pretty crazy while building hype for this week's musical guest, One Direction.

SNL cast member Vanessa Baer asked Rudd about his upcoming film, Anchor Man 2: The Legend Continues, and his preparation for it. Rudd suggested that he worked closely with a lot of news casters and sometimes "a little too close." When asked to clarify, the actor flirtatiously winked at the camera and said, "Well that's between me and George Stephanopolous."

The fact that One Direction is the musical guest in the upcoming episode was at the heart of the promo. Both Baer and Rudd squealed like teenage girls whenever they mentioned that the boy band would be making an appearance. At first it took some time for Rudd to actually realize who they were talking about.

"Are you talking about the band with the hot British guys?!" he asked Baer. "Niall, Harry, Louis, Zayne and Liam?"

As soon as Baer confirmed that that was the very band, Rudd lunged for the pillow that Baer had been using to muffle her ecstatic screams at the announcement.

Rudd will be hosting SNL for the third time.

In a recent interview with Short List, he wasn't willing to give away any details on what people could expect from Anchor Man 2 but instead suggested that he could tell them about what not to expect.

"We can talk about all the things you definitely won't see in Anchorman 2. Well, let's see now. There definitely won't be a scene with frogs raining from the sky like in Magnolia," he said. "There definitely won't be a scene...hang on, I'm thinking of things but they're all so weird that they may actually end up in the movie.

Anchor Man 2: The Legend Continues will open in theaters on Dec. 18.
