Elton John was rushed to the hospital for a serious respiratory infection on Wednesday, according to celebrities' site TMZ.

The British singer was taken to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles at around 6 a.m. Wednesday.

According to the report, he had to cancel four shows in Las Vegas.

"It feels strange not to be able to perform these 'Million Dollar Piano' concerts at the Colosseum ... I love performing the show and I will be thrilled when we return to the Colosseum in October to complete the 11 concerts," Elton John told TMZ.

He added: 'All I can say to the fans is "sorry I can't be with you."'

The singer was reportedly released from the hospital.

Elton, 65 was previously forced to cancel two concerts in February, after he came suffered food poisoning.
