Supernatural's Kevin Freakin' Solo has left the building...in a body bag.

The prophet met an untimely death during the CW drama's midseason finale, "Holy Terror.' Gadreel , who was masquerading as Ezekiel while inside Sam Winchester's meat suit, put an end to the advanced placement student after teaming up with one of heaven's most malicious turncoats, Metatron (Curtis Armstrong).

After fully taking over Sam's body and mind, the long imprisoned angel ganked Kevin Tran (Osric Chau) and stole the angel and demon tablets in order to find a new freedom in heaven.

A recurring character since season 7, the sudden and very unexpected death of Kevin sent ripples through the Supernatural fandom and even the series crew and past directors expressed their remorse at the loss of the character and the departure of Chau from the Supernatural ranks.

After receiving a bombardment of messages from fans, Chau took to Twitter to explain how he felt about Kevin's death and the end of his run on the show.

"It's been an amazing ride and though I knew it was coming, it's still this strange sensation that I can't quite readily describe in this mindset," the actor tweeted. "I've met so many wonderful people and I've made so many memories I'll cherish for a lifetime.. but it's that time where I say my thanks and take that last step into the fandom and let that world envelop me as I continue to support the show and the fans that have changed my life. Thank you for everything you've done, everything you're doing, and everything you continue to do."

However, viewers can take solace in the fact that no one ever really dies on Supernatural. There's always a chance that the advanced placement student could pop up at some point in the future.

Supernatural will return to the CW on Jan. 14 at 9 p.m. ET. Check out a preview of "Road Trip" by clicking the video below.
