The Mentalist will undergo another time jump in between "My Blue Heaven" and "Green Thumb."

The post-Red John plot has already propelled the series two years into the future, but the story will accelerate another three months, according to TV Guide. While Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) had the luxury of disappearing to a tropical island while he was evading the FBI, his life won't be quite so comfortable now that the faux psychic is back in the bureau's jurisdiction.

Consequences will catch up with Jane following his refusal to take Agent Dennis Abbott's (Rockmond Dunbar) deal and he will spend three month locked up, according to TV Guide.

"You can't go around killing people willy-nilly without some sort of ramification," said series creator Bruno Heller, according to TV Line. "Jane is going to be in a position where his personal desires are not the point.... What he does in the future is not going to be entirely up to himself."

As Jane faces those ramifications, the former CBI consultant will pull out something from the Red John case in order to see himself to freedom, according to TV Guide. Leave it to the stubborn genius to pull one over on the system and milk something good from a mystery that consumed ten years of his life.
