The next episode of American Horror Story: Coven will feature the death of many characters, according to co-creator Ryan Murphy.

Murphy spoke with Entertainment Weekly Thursday about what viewers should expect from the upcoming episode of American Horror Story: Coven, titled Head.

"There are a lot of deaths in Head." he teased. "I had to make the fateful calls. It really sort of turns the season on its ear and sort of sets up the last four episodes in a very clear, interesting way." Much of the episode will focus on Hank (Josh Hamilton) and his witch-hunting.

American Horror Story: Coven Spoilers: Does Hank Kill Cordelia?

The latest episode of American Horror Story featured Madame LaLaurie's (Kathy Bates) decapitated head placed on the Academy's doorstep. The next episode features the witches of the Academy having to deal with LaLaurie's head.

The episode will also heavily feature Joan (Patti LuPone), who was killed on the latest episode but was quickly revived by Misty Day (Lily Rabe).

"She finally has to deal with the fact that the ladies next door are witches whom she hates but who can help her, particularly Nan who is a clairvoyant," Murphy said. "We give the nation and the world Patti [LuPone] singing a spiritual, which is a great moment for her. I think Head is my favorite episode of the season."

He added that Fiona (Jessica Lange), Cordelia (Sarah Paulson), Madison (Emma Roberts), Marie Laveau (Angela Bassett) and Queenie (Gabourey Sidibe) will all have interesting storylines in the episode, which also serves as the winter finale.
