In season 4 of Game of Thrones, Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) will be going through some very eventful developments.

A Storm of Swords, the third book in the A Song of Ice and Fire book series by George R. R. Martin, is a big one for Tyrion. Assuming the Game of Thrones writers continue to faithfully adapt A Storm of Swords, Tyrion will be facing trial for murder.

MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD:

In the book, Tyrion and the rest of King's Landing are in attendance for the wedding of Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) and Margaery (Natalie Dormer). During the wedding feast, Joffrey drinks his wine, only to discover that it has been poisoned. Cersei (Lena Headey) is led to believe that Tyrion is the one that poisoned Joffrey after the two spent much of the wedding sparring with each other.

Cersei has Tyrion arrested for the murder of Joffrey. A new character called The Red Viper elects to represent Tyrion in a trial by combat, but things go completely wrong when the Red Viper is defeated.

Game of Thrones Spoilers: Episode 9 Features Battle at Castle Black?

When all hope seems lost, Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) surprisingly comes to Tyrion's rescue and helps him break out of his prison. Jaime states that he is repaying Tyrion for a past indiscretion involving the rape and disappearance of Tyrion's first wife Tysha.

Before escaping King's Landing entirely, Tyrion decides to exact his revenge on his father Tywin (Charles Dance) for his cruelties towards Tysha. Tyrion finds his lover Shae (Sibel Kekilli) in Tywin's bed, leading him to strangle her. He then finds Tywin on the toilet and asks him what he did to Tysha.

Tywin insists that Tysha was just a whore and she went "wherever whores go." Mad with rage, Tyrion kills Tywin with a crossbow. He then escapes King's Landing with Varys' (Conleth Hill) help.
