A major character recently killed off of Family Guy will be returning to the show in an upcoming episode, according to an Entertainment Weekly.

Brian's life was brought to an abrupt end when he was hit by a speeding car in the Nov. 24 episode. The farewell left fans angry and disappointed.

While they expressed their shock and dismay on social media websites like Twitter and Facebook, they also started an online petition to bring the family's beloved dog back.

It seems like producers of the show are listening to fans.

The publication suggested that the dog will be returning to the show in an episode slated to air on Dec. 15. which will have a Christmas theme. The episode's description reads, "Stewie devises a master plan to get the one and only thing he wants for Christmas."

Could his wish be to get Brian back?

The publication also points out that the dog will continue to play a part in the show, as they already have an episode lined up for next fall featuring a character voiced by Maya Rudolph that will be Brian's love interest.

Executive producer Steve Callaghan previously spoke the drastic decision to kill Brian off in the show.

"We thought it could be a fun way to shake things up," he said. "As soon as this idea came up, we started talking about what the next couple episodes could be and we got very excited about the way this change will affect the family dynamics and the characters."

Family Guy airs Sundays 9 p.m. E.T on Fox.
