New American Idol judge Harry Connick, Jr. recently slammed judges from last season of the singing competition.

After Mariah Carey said working on American Idol was like going to work "in hell with Satan," Connick tweeted, "Must've been hard to judge in hell. Idol XIII: Welcome to heaven!"

He then cleared up any misunderstanding and clarified that he loves Carey, though adding, "I just feel bad that she didn't have what we have - the best American Idol ever!"

Connick has joined the constantly changing judging panel on AI and will be featured on the show's 13th season alongside Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban. Lopez was a judge on seasons 10 and 11, while Urban made his first appearance on season 12.

Connick told E!  that unlike the infamous dispute between Carey and former judge Nicki Minaj last season, he and the other season 13 judges are getting along.

"It's three people who are having a friggin' ball," he said. "The show is goofy, it's really serious and it's real fun. It's really heartfelt. It's everything you want Idol to be."

"I really like them. We'll finish shooting and we'll go have lunch and we all sit at the same table, talking about Jen's kids, my kids and Keith's kids," he added.

Connick also hinted at the possibility of the judges all performing together at some point in the upcoming season.

"It's kind of been hinted at. I'm game for anything. I would totally dig it," he said. "You're talking about three completely different singers. It would be great."

McCormick called his new job the "easiest gig in the world" since it only involves him getting made up, dressing nice and going to evaluate singers who are looking to break into the business.

Season 13 of American Idol premieres on FOX on Jan. 15. Take a look at a sneak peek below.
