Ruben Studdard may have got booted from The Biggest Loser twice this season, but his experience with losing 112 pounds has been a huge success for him.

The American Idol winner stopped to the The Wendy Williams Show Tuesday to discuss his stint on the weight loss reality show, which resulted in him slimming down from more than 100 pounds. When he started the show, he weighed 462 pounds. He sat down next to Williams in a grey suit and explained why he refused to get surgery to lose the weight.

"I was raised to believe that I can do anything. That I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me and I stand firm on that belief. I feel like taking the easy route out is not something I should do. I should make sure I take responsibility for my health, and get in the gym and work it out," Studdard said.

"I most certainly [have a goal weight]. I want to be at my physical best by my next birthday, which is September 12, 2014. I've never seen that. I played football in high school and college, so I've been in shape but I've never seen my body at its best."

Earlier in the day, Studdard stopped by the Today show and revealed that he was because of the show that he discovered he had Type 2 diabetes.

"That was really tough," he said. "I'm glad that I went there, because you can walk around every day and feel that you're healthy and be completely unhealthy at the same time. To get that diagnosis was hard, but I'm doing what I have to do to combat it."
