While rumors of a larger screen for the iPhone 6 have been swirling for months, a new patent filed by Apple may hint at the possibility of a curved screen.

Now that Samsung has the Galaxy Round and LG created the Flex, the Cupertino based company seems to be jumping on the curved touch screen bandwagon.

On Tuesday, Apple filed a new patent for a "Curved Touch Sensor" that can be manufactured at a higher temperature without the fear of substrate warping or structural deformation, according to Apple Insider.

Although it is unknown if this advancement will be applied to next year's iPhone 6, i-Aficionados can mentally apply this possible enhancement to a rumored 4.5-inch or 5-inch display. The tech giant could even be testing screens as large as 6 inches, according to the Wall Street Journal. With a display that large, Apple would be able to head into phablet territory.

Despite this, analyst Ming Chi Kuo believes that Apple is leaning more towards a 4.5 to 5-inch screen for their next cellular product, according to Gotta Be Mobile.

The alleged iPhone 6 is still a long way off, however, and may not hit shelves until the summer or fall of 2014. Click the video below to find out about Apple's latest release of their new operating system, iOS7.
