Paul Walker's younger brother Cody may take on the deceased actor's role in Fast and Furious 7 because of their physical resemblance, a source told MailOnline.

As studio executives and filmmakers behind the 2014 thriller have been busy trying to figure out how to accommodate a change in plot in light of Paul's death, it has been confirmed that they still intend on finishing the film on time.

Fast and Furious 7 News: Plot and Movie Script Being Rewritten to Incorporate Paul Walker Send-Off

It was previously reported that writers were trying to work a suitable send-off for Paul's character in the film, but new reports suggest that the production team might be cast the actor's younger brother so the plot transition is easier.

An inside source said that after a string of meetings following Paul's death, filmmakers realized that they need someone who bore a physical likeness to the late actor in order to finish the film. Finding a 'double' for Paul would help them film necessary scenes.

"They can shoot Cody from behind and at distance and if it's a shot they need Paul's face in close up they can CGI it later on," the source said. ''If Cody agrees it's because he wants to honor his brother's memory. There are many details that still need to be worked out, but right now the family and cast and crew are all still grieving."

Cody, 25, is based in Oregon. Since Paul's death he has been staying at his mother Cheryl's home in Los Angeles.

Paul died on Nov. 30 in a car crash in Santa Clarita, Calif. He was the passenger in a car being driven by his friend, race car driver Roger Rodas, who also died in the accident. The speeding car hit a tree and instantly burst into flames, causing both the actor and Rodas to die on the spot. The actor was headed home after attending a charity event for his foundation, Reach Out Worldwide.

Paul is survived by his 15-year-old daughter, Meadow.
