Penelope Cruz has steered away for the spotlight for some time now, but only because she has been taking time to enjoy motherhood.

"I was breast-feeding my son 13 months, and I plan to do the same with my daughter," the Oscar winner told Allure magazine, referring to her daughter Luna she and husband Javier Bardem welcomed in July. "[Nursing] is addictive. It's hard when the day comes when you have to stop."

The couple, who have been married since July 2010, also have a 3-year-old son named Leo Encinas Cruz.

Speaking of childhood, the actress opened up about her own in the January 2014 isssue: "In my house every Sunday, everybody was cleaning the house. There was always music, and everybody was dancing, sometimes naked around the house. Not hippie, but very free."

The 39-year-old is very close to her family and also spoke about the bond she has with her sister Monica and brother Eduardo.

"We are so close to each other. We tell each other everything," she said. "We're talking all the time, every day. We're really, really close, the three of us. It's my treasure to have this relationship with [my] brother and sister-it's so beautiful."

As for Penelope's famous relationships, she called her Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides costar Johnny Depp "one of my favorite people in the whole world! He's been such a good friend," and said of fellow The Counselor cast member Cameron Diaz "She has this vibrant, great energy. Really full of life."

Talking about her very close friendship with Salma Hayek, Penelope revealed the two have a nickname for each other.

"She's one of my best friends. We call each other huevos [eggs]. It was because when we were working together, we didn't have children yet, so we used to sleep much more than now," she said. "So it was a way to call each other lazy. We slept in the same bed so many times and it was like she was always trying to wake me up and call me huevos. But that's in the past. Now we both are mothers, so we don't sleep that much."
