The first trailer for How To Train Your Dragon 2 gives fans a first glimpse at Hiccup's mother, voiced by Cate Blanchett.

The clip picks up where the last film left off, beginning with teasing and banter between Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) and Toothless on the island of Berk, where dragons and Vikings peacefully coexist. Viewers see Hiccup and Toothless exploring new unmapped territories together, when they come across another place that is home to dragons.

As they investigate the space further, they encounter a masked Viking with a woman's voice. She then removes her mask and reveals that she is actually Hiccup's mother, who he couldn't possibly recognize since he was only a child when she moved away.

The trailer also shows that Blanchett's character has been rescuing dragons and building her own community with them over time. As the mother and son get to know each other better, she warns him about the future. She suggests things will turn awry for the residents of Berk as antagonistic forces begin to invade the island.

"Something is coming, something you've never faced before," she tells Hiccup.

Dragon Hunter Drago Bludvist (Djimon Hounsou) is then revealed.

"The dragons are mine now," he says over scenes of dragons becoming trapped in contraptions he set up.

"Protect our people, it's your destiny," Stoick (Gerald Butler), the Chieftain of the Viking tribe and Hiccup's father, tells his son.

The film also stars Craig Ferguson, Jonah Hill and America Ferrera. The sequel will release on June 13, 2014.

How to Train Your Dragon 3 is already being developed and the third installment will be released June 17, 2016.
