NCIS: Los Angeles' Californian team will be joining forces with their agents in Afghanistan when the series returns in January.

Although Agent Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah) is currently halfway around the world, she is never far from her teammates' thoughts. Despite her dangerous missions killing the White ghost and smoking out a possible traitor, the tide seems to have turned in her favor. Not only does she have a lifeline to both Hetty (Linda Hunt) and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen), but she will get the chance to work with her old crew in Allegiance.

When a federal agent is killed for his ties to the honor based money exchange system of hawala, a potential terrorist attack also comes to light. Although the cases connection to Kensi's current assignment remains unclear, NCIS will work to foil the upcoming attack by pooling their resources form Afghanistan and Los Angeles.

Directed by Eric Laneuville (Purity, Partners), the episode will see Deeks take a little bit of a preppy angel when working the investigation. New Spoiler TV stills shows the LAPD Detective chasing down a suspect while contending with a sweater draped across his shoulders (see gallery above).

Allegiance will also deliver a dose of the red, white and blue. From balloons to the American flag, it looks like the team will be descending on a political event.

NCIS: LA airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on CBS and will return on Jan. 14.
