Marvel's Agents of SHIELD is closer than ever to revealing the mystery behind Agent Coulson's miraculous revitalization, but the information may come at a steep cost.

The last time viewers saw the beloved SHIELD agent, he had just disappeared into a fiery blast while still in the clutches of Raina (Ruth Negga) and her Centipede cronies. While it looks like Coulson (Clark Gregg) will survive the blast, there is no word on the condition of Mike Peterson (J. August Richards) when the series returns with "The Magical Place."

Coulson has repeatedly referred to Tahiti as a "Magical Place" when he speaks of his recovery, but recently the team leader has said it begrudgingly and almost fearfully. While Centipede looks for the final piece to their super solider puzzle, Coulson's journey from the Avengers helicarrier back to the halls of SHIELD may give them the clue they have been searching for.

Although Coulson's secret may be on the verge of exposure, the ABC show has more mysteries in store for its characters. While Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), Skye (Chloe Bennet), Fitz (Iain De Caestecker), and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) work to try and navigate their new roles together, Skye's quest to find out what happened to her parents may continue to put the crews' burgeoning trust on shaky ground (see video below).

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
