Patrick Swayze's widow is set to get married again.

Lisa Niemi, the actress and dancer who lost her husband of 34 years to pancreatic cancer in September 2009, is engaged to jeweler Albert DePrisco, 58, her rep confirmed to People. The couple met through mutual friends at a birthday party for Niemi and have been dating for a year and a half.

"Albert proposed to Lisa on Christmas Eve," the rep said.

The soon-to-be bride tweeted on Saturday, Dec. 28, "I know I've been very private about this, but now - I am so very happy 2 share this news with you. Very happy indeed."

Niemi, 57, met Swayze when they were both teens at his mother's dance studio in Texas, according to Fox News. She recounted their relationship and his two-year battle with cancer in the best-selling book Worth Fighting For: Love, Loss and Moving Forward. A month after Swayze passed, Niemi spoke at the Women's Conference 2009 in Long Beach, Calif., telling attendees how she was coping.

"I am so grateful for what I had and my connection to [Patrick], and part of me believes that I will see him again, and I'm just going to have to go on until then," she said.

In 2010, she told the magazine she was open to the possibility of being married again.

"I would love companionship love. Absolutely. I hope I'm not one of these women who never want to have another relationship," she said. "But who knows, that's another bridge I'll cross when I come to it. I may get there and go, I don't know. But I like to think that I can."
