Ricky Martin is officially a single man.

The Latin singer and his longtime boyfriend Carlos Gonzalez Abella have broken up, but remain friends. A rep for Martin confirmed to E! News on Thursday, Jan. 2, "Ricky and Carlos have mutually agreed to end their relationship, but continue to be united by friendship and their shared experiences."

The singer appeared to suggest a breakup via Twitter. o be a tweet on the news.

"Changes oh changes," Martin tweeted on Dec. 27. Three days later he tweeted, "So, you are waiting to be ready??? Watch out, you can be waiting all your life. #GODoit ;0)."

The singer revealed that he was gay on his website in 2010. He posted a message that read "I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am."

Martin revealed his relationship with Abella in an interview with Vanity Fair in 2012. He told the publication, "I have experienced wonderful things with my partner. Complexity, understanding, and, at the same time, freedom, not being afraid that your partner is judging you. That is what I have found with Carlos."

Martin also mentioned the dynamic between his lover and 5-year-old twins twins, Matteo and Valentino.

"We're going on four years together...when I started the process with my sons, Carlos wasn't in my life. He said: 'I'm looking for a boyfriend, not a father with a family.' And I said to him: 'You've found a grown-up, full-fledged man.' I created a family structure and if he didn't understand he'd ask me questions and we were on our way. He has a really strong personality. He's nobody's puppet."
