Though Spider-Man is often touted as the hero, he does not do all the saving in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Emma Stone, who plays Gwen Stacy in the upcoming film, said her character is just as involved in rescuing others as Spider-Man. The actress explained how her character is far from a damsel in distress in an interview with Total Film magazine.

Spider-Man doesn't save her character too many times in the film, the 25-year-old said.

"[It's] not many. I can think of one important instance," Stone said. "She saves him more than he saves her. She's incredibly helpful to Spider-Man...He's the muscle, she's the brains."

Though she didn't reveal any specifics, Stone said her character would have some involvement in the action scenes.

"I don't get to do too many crazy stunts. She gets herself in in the middle of stuff, that's for sure!" she said. "I do get webbed to a car. There's s-t like that."

Her comments draw comparisons to Kirsten Dunst's portrayal of the superhero's other epic love, Mary Jane Watson, in the Sam Raimi-directed Spider-Man trilogy. Whereas Mary Jane was a much more passive character who required Spider-Man's rescue several times, Gwen Stacy is not.

Gwen previously offered a helping hand to Spidey in the 2012 installment, The Amazing Spider-Man. Her character brewed the antidote that would prevent The Lizard/Dr. Curt Conners from unleashing the same formula turning him into the creature he was on all of New York City.
