One of the biggest scene-stealing mutants from the 2000 film X-Men will be featured in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Actor Evan Jonigkeit revealed to MTV this week that he will be playing Toad in X-Men: Days of Future Past, the energetic mutant with an incredibly long tongue.

"I read a lot of the comic books. I found out the storyline of my character, who is Toad," Jonigkeit said. "X-Men fans will know that Ray Park played him in the first movie, so it's a generation story of how he came to be. It's really cool."

As for Toad's physical appearance in X-Men: Days of Future Past, the actor said that it would be much different from the one depicted in X-Men.

"The aesthetics of the character are much different, and I'm not really allowed to say a whole lot more than that," he admitted, though he added that it will be much "darker."

In other X-Men: Days of Future Past news, director Bryan Singer revealed new details about how the upcoming movie will lead into the next X-Men movie, titled X-Men: Apocalypse.

Singer said that he's not sure if there will be a teaser at the end of Days of Future Past yet. "I'm still deciding that," he said, adding: "Something that happens in this movie causes what's going to happen in that movie."

The next film will involve a more historical premise when it comes to exploring mutant origins.

"It will . . . address historical mutant-cy, meaning the deep past, mutant origins and things like that," Singer revealed. "It's something that's always intrigued me when we think about our Gods and our history and miracles and powers."
