A fire broke out at the Freedom Tower in New York this morning. Firefighters put out a small fire in some wooden decking early this morning. According to Daily Mail, the fire department was called at 7.15 am Saturday morning. Most of the fire was put out by construction workers at the tower but the firefighters still attended the scene. All was back to normal by 8.19am.

There is no information on what caused the blaze but the smoke could be seen for miles. Firefighters said the floor has been charred and construction has briefly stopped as firefighters investigate what caused the fire.

The Freedom Tower is also called the One World Trade Center and is said to be the most expensive skyscraper in the world. Though it does not break the record to be the highest building in the world, it stands as the tallest skyscraper in New York. It is taller than the Empire State building. The construction of the  Freedom Tower is expected to be completed in 2013 and stand at a whopping 1368 feet.

President Barack Obama is expected to visit the site of the September 11 attacks on June 14. According to White House spokesman Josh Earnest, the president will be briefed on the progress of the skyscraper.
