Transformers: Age of Extinction director Michael Bay took his on-stage meltdown earlier in January in stride and softed the blow by cracking a joke about Dennis Rodman.

Bay was giving a speech at the Consumer Electronics Show tech conference on Monday, Jan. 6, when the teleprompter stopped working. He was set to talk about a 105-inch ultra high-definition Samsung TV and only made it partially through his speech before the teleprompter got lost. The visionary then walked off stage.

The media had fun with the story, and so did Bay.

CNN cited Funny or Die, the Will Ferrell-owned website, saying, "Michael Bay stormed off stage at CES after his teleprompter broke. No script, big explosion & a disappointed audience. Dude's still got it!"

Bay may have not given Samsung or the people in the audience what they expected, but he is showing a light-hearted nature after the disastrous event.

"I got so many texts from attractive women saying, 'are you OK? Do you want to cuddle?" he told TMZ on Tuesday, Jan. 7. "I guess everyone should have a laugh about it cause I'm laughing about it."

He also expressed that he didn't know how big of a deal it was until his friend told him. Bay's headline-making skills when then compared to that of Rodman's.

"I haven't looked at the news but my friend from Texas said, 'Hey dude the lead story is either Rodman and the guy from North Korea or you,' " Bay said, referring to the former NBA player's on-air meltdown regarding his visit to country leader Kim Jong Un.

After walking off stage at the tech conference, Bay took to his website to explain the situation. He wrote, "Wow! I just embarrassed myself at CES. I got so excited to talk, that I skipped over the Exec VP's intro line and then the teleprompter got lost. Then the prompter went up and down - then I walked off. I guess live shows aren't my thing."

Bay's upcoming blockbuster, Transformers: Age of Extinction, is set to release June 27, 2014.
