"The Hunger Games franchise continues to evolve into a truly global phenomenon," said Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer.

The sequel has surpassed the original Hunger Games movie in 2012, which grossed $408 million domestically and $691 million worldwide. Thus far, The Hunger Games franchise has collected over $1.5 billion worldwide.
