The Blacklist is a labyrinth of mysteries, and new questions continue to stack up around the series' core characters.

Although Red (James Spader) put his team back in order during "The Good Samaritan," the mole is still very much in play, Tom's (Ryan Eggold) true past is still shady, Alan Alda's Fitch Crowley is unknowable as ever, and Red's connection to Liz Keen (Megan Boone) has yet to be revealed.

Fans shouldn't despair however, The Blacklist writers will be rolling out more answers as the season progresses, Spader told the Today Show while explaining that he is aware of the true nature of Red and Liz's relationship.

"[But] particulars and specifics of that relationship, I do not know," Spader conceded. "But, ultimately, that is a great deal of what the show is about. I think you just have to sort of allow the audience to glimpse behind the curtain and then shut it quickly in their face."

One thing that viewers did get a peek at during "The Good Samaritan" was Finch Crowley's job when he is not trying to terrorize Red. Clearly a high ranking official, Alda's character is able to put the pressure on the United States Assistant Attorney General, Diane Fowler (Jane Alexander).

"Certainly this is not the last we've seen of him and especially [after] unveiling that he does have a title and a job that people may recognize him in, we think that makes him all the more dangerous," hinted writer Brandon Margolis in a "Beyond The Blacklist" featurette.
