Frozen star Idina Menzel received her first Oscar nomination on Thursday for Best Original Song, and she's hoping to perform at the Academy Awards set to air on ABC March 2, 2014.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly on Thursday, the singer was asked if she would be performing on the night of the Oscars.

"I will if they ask me!" Menzel said. "I'll be in the middle of tech for If/Then, but hopefully we'll tech a part that I'm not in. I've already got permission if they ask- cross your fingers!- that I can get out there and do my thing and just try to really have fun with the idea."

Menzel also said that being nominated for an Oscar is definitely something to be proud of.

"This is definitely a dream come true for me," Menzel said. "I'm happy for the movie, I'm happy to be a part of the whole thing, and to have a song that really resonates with people is just beyond."

Menzel also mentioned that working with DIsney was something she wanted to do for a while.

"I made myself completely available when they asked me to come in for a reading," Menzel said. "And I worked with Kristen Bell and the two of us came up with an arrangement of a song because they didn't have music written, but they wanted to hear us sing together."

"Honestly, I've wanted to be in the Disney family for a long time," Menzel continued. "I did Enchanted, but of course, this is a whole other thing. It's a dream."

Though this is her first Oscar nomination, Menzel is no stranger to winning awards for her work. She previously won a Tony for her portrayal of Elphaba in the Broadway musical, Wicked.
