Angelina Jolie shows a bad side as the Mistress of All Evil in the latest trailer for Maleficent released on Friday.

The 38-year-old actress plays the villainess who terrorizes Princess Aurora in the upcoming reboot of Disney's classic animated film Sleeping Beauty.

In the trailer, Jolie wears a cape and a horned headdress as she gives her wicked gift to the newborn princess.

In another scene, Aurora, played by Elle Fanning, approaches Maleficent in a dark forest and tells her, "I know you're there. Don't be afraid."

"I am not afraid," Maleficent replies, before explaining to Aurora that she is the one who will be frightened.

The trailer also shows Jolie's character offering the princess some life lessons.

"Aurora, there is an evil in this world," she says. "I cannot keep you from it."

The mother of six explained what prompted her to take on the role while promoting the film last August.

"The nice thing about joining the Disney family is... We've all been fans since we were little kids and it is this magical world and it's a happy world," Jolie told IGN.

"As a mother there is something very nice knowing that you can take your kids to a Disney film and you know it has something good for them in it."

She also spoke about her feelings on the evil role and said, "When I got the chance to play her I was very, very excited but very nervous."

Maleficent, directed by Robert Stromberg, comes to theaters on May 30.
