Kristen Saban told lawyers she only acted in self-defense when she fought with her sorority sister in 2010, according to testimony in Tuesday's court.

The Associated Press reported that the daughter of University of Alabama coach Nick Saban said her former best friend Sarah Grimes was to blame for the altercation. However, it was Grimes who sued Saban after the incident, which led to Grimes getting a concussion and requiring nasal surgery.

The incident occurred after Grimes and some more friends went to Saban's apartment intoxicated. At one point in the night, Grimes told Saban that she was acting "pathetic" over a situation with a boyfriend at the time.

Saban then wrote "No one likes Sarah, yay" on Facebook, which led to the physical altercation between the two girls. Grimes said that her former best friend pushed her first, while Saban said that Grimes started the fight by grabbing her neck.

After the two fought, Saban also claimed that Grimes came to speak with her.

"She told me to look at her, because I had my hands over my eyes crying. She said, 'We can't do this to each other. We're best friends," Saban said.

"I said, 'You came at my throat. You came at my throat.' And she said, 'We can't do this, we need to talk about this, but I need to go to the hospital to document this.'"

Grimes filed suit against Saban in 2012. Both women were part of the Phi Mu sorority at Alabama and graduated last year.
