Chicago PD is conveniently set up for easy character exchanges with Chicago Fire, but few fans expected the NBC series to pen a Law & Order: SVU crossover episode within its first season.

TV Guide broke the news regarding the SVU crossover from the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Sunday, but details on the episode were scarce until Sophia Bush opened up to Perez Hilton.

"Every one online is saying, 'We want to see Chicago PD and Law & Order: SVU cross over.'" Bush, who plays Erin Lindsay on PD, explained to Perez TV. "So, we have a situation where there was a criminal who was committing crimes in New York who disappeared, the case went cold, and now has shown up in Chicago. The last thing that we, as an efficient team, want to do is run into any redundancy of discovery so we reach out to the investigating officers on the New York case and Kelli Giddish (Detective Amanda Rollins) and Ice-T (Detective Odafin'Fin' Tutuola) come to Chicago and work with us on our half of the case."

Meanwhile, Lindsay's involvement with Chicago Fire could take a romantic twist. Fans have been speculating on whether the Intelligence Unit member will fall for her partner, Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer), or a local fireman.

"There's a whole thing, will it be Lindstead or Lindseride," Bush joked, according to Perez Hilton. "Is it going to be Erin and her partner or Erin and Serveride (Taylor Kinney) from Fire and I guess we'll just have to see.
