It appears that Elizabeth Banks is set to direct the sequel to the musical comedy Pitch Perfect.

The actress who produced and co-starred in the first film will reportedly go behind the camera for Pitch Perfect 2, according to Variety.

"Elizabeth originated the idea for Pitch Perfect and was instrumental in making the first film such a huge success," Universal Picture chairman Donna Langley said. "She brings an enormous amount of energy and experience to everything she works on and we're thrilled that she is making her first feature directorial debut on Pitch Perfect 2."

Banks has co-starred in several other films, including The Hunger Games, Zack and Miri Make a Porno and The 40-Year-Old Virgin. She was nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Avery Jessup- Donaghy in 30 Rock. She was nominated in 2011 and 2012. She also won an MTV Movie Award in 2012 for Best On-Screen Transformation for her role in The Hunger Games.

There is currently no official word if the stars of the first Pitch Perfect will be in the sequel.

The original film starred Anna Kendrick, Skylar Astin, Brittany Snow and Rebel Wilson.

Banks has yet to confirm the news of her directorial debut. Her latest tweet was on Sunday night where she wrote "I know the east coast saw it 3 hrs ago and it's old news but that Same Love #GRAMMYS bit just changed the big world a little for the better"
